Cura\u00e7ao boasts around 40 beaches! From expansive sandy shores to cozy hidden spots, beaches with all the amenities to those still relatively undiscovered by tourists. There’s something for everyone!<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you’re looking to unwind on fully equipped beach beds, head to Jan Thiel Beach, Mambo Beach, or Pirate Bay for a day of relaxation. Seeking more natural and untouched beaches? You’ll find them to the west of Willemstad. . Locally popular options include Playa Porto Marie, Cas Abou, Lagun, and Daaibooi. Keep in mind that if you visit on weekends or national holidays, these beaches might get busier as the locals come to enjoy their leisure time. But don’t worry, the atmosphere is lively! The locals often bring local music and fire up the barbecue. Strike up a conversation, and you might even be invited to share a chicken drumstick!<\/p>\n

North Coast \u2013 South Coast<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nearly all accessible beaches on Cura\u00e7ao are located on the south and west side of the island. <\/p>\n

The north side of Cura\u00e7ao faces the powerful currents of the Caribbean Sea, causing the waves to crash dramatically against the coastline. There’s only one beach on this side: Playa Kanoa. It’s a haven for surfers who want to ride the impressive waves. However, reaching this beach is no easy feat. The north coast doesn’t offer relaxing spots for swimming. But at Shete Boka National Park, you can witness the incredible force with which the sea meets the shore.<\/p>\n

Beaches of Banda Abou<\/strong><\/p>\n

The region west of Willemstad is known as Banda Abou, or Cura\u00e7ao’s “countryside”. This is where you’ll find the most beautiful beaches. Drive your rental car from Willemstad via the road from Westpunt to Banda Abou. When you reach Harmonie and Grote Berg, take a left onto Weg naar St. Willibrordus. At St. Willibrordus, you’ll encounter a fork: turn left toward Daaibooi, Porto Marie & Karakter on Coral Estate, or turn right toward Soto. If you opt for the road toward Soto and keep driving straight, you’ll come across charming beaches on your left. Some beaches require an entrance fee (like Cas Abou), but most are free to access.<\/p>\n

My vacation tip for you: Take a coastal detour without knowing exactly where it leads. Stepping out of your comfort zone often leads to discovering the most beautiful and extraordinary things. That’s how I stumbled upon Playa Forti, where daredevils leap from high cliffs into the water… <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
