Curaçao: The Inhabitants

Curaçao is home to around 156,000 residents. With the majority living in and around Willemstad.

Each year, approximately 3,500 people migrate from the Netherlands to Curaçao, and a similar number make the move from Curaçao to the Netherlands. It’s estimated that 15,000 to 20,000 “European Dutch” individuals reside on Curaçao for extended periods. And, as they like to say, the island also hosts a scattering of Belgians.

When you delve into the backgrounds of Curaçao’s inhabitants, you’ll discover a wonderful blend of cultures representing nearly the entire global population. Alongside the local populace and immigrated Europeans, you’ll also encounter a significant presence of Chinese residents (just look at all the Mini-Markets along the road) and an increasing number of individuals from South America.
